Communications Specialists for Volunteer Jobs in Africa & Asia

Voluntary Service Overseas UK (VSO), one of the leading international charities working through volunteers, needs Communications Professionals to support NGOs, institutions and co-operatives working with vulnerable categories in 40 developing countries in Africa and Asia.
Our volunteer placements in this area are diverse. You could work on income generating activities and funding proposals or you might offer consultancy in documentation, report writing, promotion techniques, policy research, advocacy initiatives or campaigning.
You normally need a degree level qualification in Communications, Journalism, PR or other related fields, as well as at least 3 to 5 years’ exp in communications strategy development, advocacy campaigns, web content development, documentation and database management knowledge. Communications management and staff management experience is desirable.
VSO is looking for professionals with an interest in international development and who are committed to its cause and vision for a better world through the sharing of skills. All applicants undergo a rigurous selection aiming at both professional and personal qualities required in order to succesfully work as a VSO volunteer in a developing country. Most VSO volunteer placements are long-term (1-2 years), for a more lasting impact.
Volunteers receive training in development work and full financial support from VSO.

Communications and Management Adviser – Sri Lanka
Working with SAPSRI, a non-governmental organisation that promotes dialogue between local people and policy makers at community level, you’ll help to develop and promote a Centre for Governance in Colombo.
Communications Adviser – India
A regional network of people living with HIV and AIDS require an experienced communications professional to help develop internal and external communications. You can help this non-governmental organisation to empower people with HIV and AIDS by sharing your skills in communications and information.
Communications Adviser – Pakistan
The Lions Youth Council work with vulnerable and high-risk communities in HIV and AIDS awareness and empowerment. They need a Communications Adviser to improve and develop the way they communicate externally, report information and deliver news of their impact.
